Matthew 19:14 (KJV) – But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child, in the way he should go and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” The Silver Grove Immanuel Kids in Devotion and Ministry Service provides a positive and nurturing spiritual environment for children infant to age 12. Through fun and age appropriate biblical teaching, arts and crafts, and music, we set out to keep the children engaged, interested and inspired with how GOD works in their lives. We want them to see that they too, have a place in GODs Kingdom as Kingdom Builders. Kids in Devotion is an opportunity for children to celebrate their love for the Lord. And a worship experience focused totally on children and building their understanding of the Bible and promoting a meaningful relationship with God. In the end, both parents and those of us in the church are guides. Of course, we need to do all we can to influence children in their faith—and what we do (or don’t do) most definitely influences them.

Ultimately, spiritual formation is about the heart. It is mentioned hundreds of times and in many different contexts throughout scripture. We are told: “Above all else, guard your HEART, for everything you do flows from it (Proverbs 4:23).” The “HEART” (in scripture) generally encompasses our thinking, our will and our emotions. We want the HEARTS of our kids to lean toward God in all areas of their life so that everything they do is influenced “toward God.”

You may have noticed that HEART is capitalized in our definition. That is because there are five areas we can focus on (H.E.A.R.T.) to help us “guide kids toward a HEART for God:” Heartfelt Relationships, Engaging Teaching, Authentic Worship, Real Service, Telling the Good News.
